The last survivor of the thunder demon tribe shows up for revenge against Shippo. Will Inuyasha stay out of it?
Original Air Date: 6 May 2002, Streamed on: Hulu
Shippo receives a message in a lightning bolt, a challenge from a demon in the thunder tribe! A talking cloud delivered the message, but it came from another young demon.
The gang finds out about the challenge, and they can’t help but wonder if it’s related to, you know, how they killed the Thunder Brothers in Season 1. Like me, they also wonder: shouldn’t this be a challenge for Inuyasha?
The talking cloud is actually a small dragon named Koryu, and together with his buddy Soten, they have dossiers on each of our heroes. They reveal that Shippo is their target because they think he’s the only one that Soten can defeat.
Shippo is not ready for a duel, so Inuyasha pushes him along with Tetsusaiga’s sheath.
Koryu kidnaps Shippo, then lures Kilala to a giant pile of catnip to trap Miroku and Sango. When Miroku spots a young maiden in distress, she turns out to be Koryu’s puppet, and the pair heroes fall into a deep hole — horny jail, yet again, for the handsy monk.
Soten and Shippo get going, yelling through the bars of Shippo’s cage and drawing mean cartoons of each other. Soten sees Shippo’s crayons, and she totally wants them.
Koryu’s trap for Kagome and Inuyasha fails spectacularly, but after an ineffective lightning arrow bombardment and a few head bops, they capture Koryu and head for Soten’s place.
Soten releases Shippo from his cage to duel for the crayons. When Inuyasha and Kagome arrive, the two young demons are exhausted from throwing acorns and mushrooms, too exhausted to continue the duel.
Shippo walks off, very satisfied with himself but accepting a forfeit in the duel. He tosses the crayons to Soten.

Did you miss it?
Soten’s cuteness causes love-at-first-sight for Kagome.
While Shippo’s dramatize post-script narration plays through, Soten draws a picture of Shippo with her crayons and smiles.
