Inuyasha (S3E7): Kikyo and the Dark Priestess

Inuyasha squares off with a wolf demon

Kagome does her best to fight the curse and stop herself from killing Inuyasha. Will Tsubaki lose her mind when Kikyo shows up?

Original Air Date: 18 Feb 2002, Streamed on: Hulu

Just for fun, we get to see Kilala crash into Naraku’s barrier again, but Kikyo walks right through as if invited.

Inuyasha charges at Kagome to try to stop her. Before he can get there, Kagome release her arrow.

Kikyo catches up to Tsubaki and immediately destroys Naraku’s puppet.

Kagome’s arrow missed, and Kikyo has distracted the dark priestess enough to lose her hold on Kagome. With the barrier down, she can sense Naraku’s portion of the sacred jewel, so Inuyasha picks her up and runs off to find.

A flashback, retells the story of Inuyasha and Kikyo again but with a wrinkle that shows Tsubaki’s attempt to steal the jewel for herself. She seeks it for eternal youth and beauty because she is a cliché.

Inuyasha jumping so high he's basically flying

Inuyasha leaps at least a half-mile in his final approach toward the barrier, and from the leap’s apex, Kagome unleashes an arrow that collapses the barrier.

Kikyo engages in some light hair-pulling of Tsubaki, warning her not to harm Inuyasha but also letting her know that she wouldn’t mind seeing Kagome have an accident. As long as Tsubaki holds the Shikon jewel, Kagome’s life remains in her hands.

Kikyo pulling Tsubaki's hair

Tsubaki threatens Inuyasha then attacks him. I don’t think Kikyo is going to like that.

The dark priestess unleashes a large wolf demon to fight him, but he can not draw Tetsusaiga or Tsubaki will kill Kagome with her curse.

An Iron Reaver Soul Stealer does minimal damage, and the battle continues.

Did you miss it?

The corruption level of the Shikon jewel seems to be pretty sensitive to what’s happening in its immediate vicinity. I’m not sure if that’s a bug or a feature.
