While walking in the rain, the gang is approached by soldiers from a village besieged by a demon. They seek Sango and offer her 20x her normal demon-slaying rate to slay their demon. She is hesitant to accept, but the young lord pipes up from the back to personally request her help.
Before long, he proposes marriage. It looks like he’s after Miroku’s moving-way-too-fast bit. Miroku is stoic, but he promptly resumes asking random girls to bear his children.
Kagome begins plotting to get Sango and Miroku together, but Miroku is too aloof to get involved.
Lord Kuranosuke lays it on really thick, with a flirtation style that fits nicely with a proclamation of love on a first date, but Sango turns him down, using her revenge plot against Naraku as her excuse. With such a soft rejection, Kuranosuke couldn’t be less deterred.
On a night time walk, Sango runs into Miroku who wishes her happiness. For a brief moment, she hesitates, but before anything happens, the demon bear appears.
Sango tells everyone else to chill, so she can handle it herself and work out some of this love triangle stress. She rages on the demon, knocking it down in defeat, but she cannot destroy it. It rises up to strike Sango, but someone gets in the way!
It’s Miroku! The demon badly wounded his left arm, but Sango is out of immediate danger.
Miroku reveals his discovery that the demon is actually a vengeful spirit that can not be typically defeated, then he hits it with a spell scroll to exorcise it.
