Gatenmaru and Inuyasha transform, and only one of them survives the ensuing fight. Can you guess which one? Hint: it rhymes with “Menuwasha.”
Original Air Date: 26 Nov 2001, Streamed on: Hulu
Gatenmaru is drinking tea and terrorizing the village’s women. He appears to be part mosquito as he drains the blood from one of them.
The piggy-back lover is suddenly quite spry. He steals Tetsusaiga back and sprints to return it to Inuyasha, but he is stopped by two soldiers and beaten. Just then the rest of the gang shows up to help. Perfectly hilarious timing, team.
The barrier protecting Inuyasha and Miroku is failing, but Inuyasha’s transformation has already begun.
After breaking free from the poison cocoon, demon-blood Inuyasha promptly slaughters half of the soldiers, so Gatenmaru transforms into a giant moth with feathers and a bonus pair of feathered wings. Of course, they do him no good at all, and Inuyasha’s claws quickly turn him into diced moth.
Elsewhere, Sesshomaru has left Rin alone with Jaken. Jaken is being very dramatic about it, so Rin asks him a question and then walks off while he answers it. She is all of us.
Inuyasha’s demon rampage continues against the remaining soldiers. Kagome tries to get Tetsusaiga back to Inuyasha to end the slaughter, but Sesshomaru drops in first and baits Inuyasha into a fight.
Demon-blood Inuyasha is no match at all for Sesshomaru. Having confirmed the demon tree’s story about Inuyasha’s demon blood, Sesshomaru backs off and, before he leaves, makes sure the gang knows how to change Inuyasha back.
As Inuyasha wakes up, he becomes upset at the sight of the slain soldiers and begins to question what he really is.

When Inuyasha destroys the poison cocoon, parts of it are draped over him while smaller pieces rain down on Miroku. Neither is harmed.
